The third edition of the Ochenta Cup, featuring the High School Batch 1980 players from Ateneo and La Salle took centerstage at the Canlubang Golf and Country Club.
And the winner is…Ateneo golfers will have a year of bragging rights against their La Salle counterparts. Team OBF Ateneo assembled 355 Stableford points to Team Animo La Salle’s 348.
Ateneo’s top gunners: Enrico Sanchez 40, Carlito Realuyo 39, Cheman Yulo 37, Reggie Arceo 36, Harvey Ringler 35 and Al Panlilio 35. For La Salle, Noli Eala carried the fight with 40, Eric Lustre 37, Carling Santos 35 and Jet Revilla 35.
This was not a blowout but a competitive seven-point triumph for Ateneo. The difference came from the Blue Eagles’ depth and consistency, having multiple players score in the 34-40 Stableford point-range. It was especially satisfying because this was a closely contested match and the team’s preparation and line-up decisions translated into success and more camaraderie on the course.
Indeed, a hard-earned W for Ateneo!
